History Lesson or Craft Time?

We started this year's homeschooling. This year, we are studying the Age of Exploration and early American history.

２週間前から、新年度のホームスクール始めました。今年の社会はアメリカ植民地時代の歴史を主に学びます。

Henna and Bangles

Meena spent the afternoon with our pastor's daughter, who just got engaged. She came back with henna painted on one hand and a lot of bangles on her other wrist. She was asked to be a flower girl in the wedding--which will be a first for her! In India for the wedding, her hands will be decorated with henna and she'll wear lots and lots of bangles.

現地で通っている教会の牧師の娘が婚約しました。初めて、美奈がフラワーガールに選ばれました。インドでは、結婚式に参加するとき、いっぱいバングルをはめ、手にへナという食物性の粉で模様を書きます。

Most of the friends who left for the US for the vacation, came back. They are really happy to be together again. The boys pray every day that their other best friend Micah could come back to Indian soon, too.

夏休みの間、子供たちの友人はアメリカへ休暇で行っていました。３ヵ月後、みんな帰ってきてから、初めて一緒に遊びました。

１年に１回の、学力試験です。

To finish off the school year, the boys took an Iowa Test, administered by an Educational Consultant from the USA, who came to our house to give the 3-hour test.

Breakfast for 18 people

13 friends joined us for breakfast this morning, and this is what we prepared. All 3 kids helped.

Finally Swimming!

Last year the nearest city-run pool allowed us to swim on a pay-by-day basis. We were counting on it again this year, but as summer began in March, we were told that the only way we could enter the pool was to have a membership. So we applied and...three months later, we finally got our membership! These are the looks of happy, satisfied swimmers (even Sawyer)!
