Sawyer and Meena have drama classes--normally a highlight of the day.
Meena's class did a play based on Max Lucado's book "You Are Special" (in which the wooden puppet Punchinello lives with the Wemmicks who either get dots or stars put on them). Her role was the proud, selfish mayor who always receives the most stars.
She said, grinning, "After hearing me practice my evil laugh in the play, little kids now attack me in the playground!"
Yes, I'd say she did well as the wicked mayor, dressed in a golden sari!
Sawyer's class presented an excerpt from Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream." Sawyer played the role of Demetrius. I was shocked to see my son rejecting a woman so hatefully, though he later fell under a spell to love her. The highlight was no doubt the fight scene.

Satoshi does not have drama class. But this year his English class read the novel "The Scarlet Letter," then the students wrote a script together to adapt the story into an hour-long play. It was a big production, and they did an amazing job. Satoshi played the role of the minister Dimmesdale who dies because of guilt of having committed adultery. Last year, He was Jesus in the school play...What happened?!
